DJ Mowgli picked up his first gigs around Cincinnati in 1993, and within months was booking dates outside the city. His early specialty was the then-new sound of Jungle and Drum & Bass, and by 1995 he’d helped form the promotions crew Cincinnati Bomb Squad (CBS), throwing some of the biggest raves in the Midwest through the early 2000s. As that scene faded he shifted into open-format DJing, taking on nearly every genre and event style. In the years since he’s played stages from New York and L.A. to Dubai and Hawai’i, opened for acts including Public Enemy and Jam Master Jay, served as on-camera DJ for Dhani Jones’ TV show, and was voted Cincinnati’s #1 DJ by CityBeat readers. He also regularly DJs fundraisers for Visionaries & Voices, a local nonprofit supporting artists with disabilities.
